NSD Supports Indy 500 Centennial Tour’s Visit to Troops Overseas
National Speedway Directory is proud to support the Indy 500 Centennial Tour. Some of the biggest names in IndyCar racing are traveling to
U.S. military bases in Europe and the Middle East. The tour features Mario Andretti, Al Unser Jr., Johnny Rutherford, Davey Hamilton, Larry Foyt, Martin Plowman, Sarah Fisher and announcer Jack Arute.
The 10-day tour began on Friday, January 14, 2011 and will returning on Saturday January 22, 2011. It is anticipated the drivers will have the opportunity to personally meet and connect with 10,000 to 15,000 troops as they travel in excess of 20,000 flight miles.
The trip is coordinated through Armed Forces Entertainment, a Department of Defense agency, and
the Morale Entertainment Foundation. Significant partners in this endeavor include the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the IZOD IndyCar Series.
National Speedway Directory – Publisher – Tim Frost contacted Morale Entertainment – Tour Director – Mike Whalen, and donated copies of National Speedway Directory to the tour organizers. Mr. Frost said, “The Indy 500 Centennial Tour is an excellent event to provide encouragement for our military personnell. There are race fans throughout the world and National Speedway Directory will allow them to connect to the favorite race track back home.”
